DanceAbility International’s mission is to create opportunities for people with and without disabilities to dance and move together.

Actress and producer Salma Hayek Jiménez has embraced her disability – dyslexia – from a very young age.

When she first starts living in United States at the age of 25, she had difficulty reading and understanding road signs. She studied hard to learn English and eventually she was able to reach her potential in Hollywood.

In June 2016, Beautiful Mind held a concert performed by musicians with disabilities at the United Nations Headquarters Building in New York City, USA.

This concert was to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

The concert invited a number of professional musicians with disabilities.

The group Beautiful Mind has performed on the international stage many times. They have performed in the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games, the 2012 London Paralympic Games and the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.

FIRST EVER MODELS WITH DISABILITIES GRACE THE CATWALK IN NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

People with disabilities from all over the world became models in the 2015 New York Fashion Week Loving You fashion show.

MAYA ANGELOU, LEGENDARY POET AND CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST WHO HAD DISABILITY, INSPIRES GENERATIONS

Maya had selective mutism, an anxiety disorder that causes a child to not speak due to physical and psychological trauma they endured.

As a child, Maya was sexually abused and raped by her mother's boyfriend, the boyfriend was found guilty but was only jailed for one day, and was murdered four days later. The trauma led to Maya's diagnosedwith selective mutism.

In the five-year span that she experienced this, her listening, observing and memorizing skills improved and her love of books expanded. This helped her later when she began working in becoming successful in her career.
